The goal's manufacturer declined a voluntary recall. The CPSC's guidance was unambiguous: stop using the product and discard it.
This is not a tip-over scenario. The goal did not fall on anyone. The failure mode was the exposed metal tip of a rigid frame pole on a product marketed as lightweight and recreational.
The Regulatory Gap Behind the Warning

The long-standing U.S. goal safety standard — ASTM F2950 — applies only to soccer goals weighing more than 40 pounds. Heavy permanent steel goals and most aluminium training goals fall within that threshold. Lightweight portable and pop-up goals — typically well under 40 pounds — do not.
